Im Zentrum der Designkooperation mit dem nigerianischen Modelabel Lagos Space Programme stand die experimentelle Designforschung zu ‚post-àdìrẹ‘, die sich historisch mit dem Prestigetextil der Yoruba, àdìrẹ, auseinandersetzte und zeitgenössische Interpretationen erforschte. Während gemeinsamer Recherchereisen in die Yoruba-Städte Abeokuta, Ibadan, Oshogbo und Ile-Ife im südwestlichen Nigeria wurde eine Zusammenarbeit mit àdìrẹ-Künstler/innen und Färberwerkstätten initiiert, dabei textile Experimente durchgeführt und neue textile Flächen wie àdìrẹ-Strick entwickelt.
Die Unikate, die im Rahmen der Zusammenarbeit für die Lagos Space Programme-Kollektionen Guerrilla / Project 4 (SS20) und We Greet Dress Before We Greet Its Wearer / Aṣọ Lànkí, Kí Ató Ki Ènìyàn / Project 5 (SS21) entstanden sind, wurden auf der Lagos Fashion Week 2019 und 2020, der Arise Fashion Week 2020 und im Rahmen der Ausstellung Africa Fashion im Victoria & Albert Museum South Kensington 2022/23 präsentiert. Zudem sind sie im RISD Rhode Island School of Design Museum in Providence (RI), USA, als Teil der ständigen Sammlung zu sehen und wurden für den LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers eingereicht, für den das Label 2021 nominiert wurde.
The design collaboration with the Nigerian fashion label Lagos Space Programme focused on experimental design research on ‚post-àdìrẹ‘, which historically explored the prestigious Yoruba textile àdìrẹ and developed contemporary interpretations. During joint research trips to the Yoruba cities of Abeokuta, Ibadan, Oshogbo and Ile-Ife in southwestern Nigeria, a collaboration with àdìrẹ artists and dyeing workshops was initiated to experiment with textiles and explore new textile surfaces such as àdìrẹ knitwear.
The unique pieces created for the Lagos Space Programme collections Guerrilla / Project 4 (SS20) and We Greet Dress Before We Greet Its Wearer / Aṣọ Lànkí, Kí Ató Ki Ènìyàn / Project 5 (SS21) were presented at Lagos Fashion Week 2019 and 2020, Arise Fashion Week 2020 and as part of the Africa Fashion exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum South Kensington 2022/23. They are also on display at the RISD Rhode Island School of Design Museum in Providence (RI), USA, as part of the permanent collection and were submitted for the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers, for which the label was nominated in 2021.
