Die aktuellen Ereignisse am Gezi-Park in Istanbul sind Anlass für die Frage nach der politischen Funktion von Stadtraum. Der Majdan in Kiew oder der Tahrir-Platz in Kairo bildeten Zentrum und Ausgangspunkt der Aufstände gegen die bestehenden politischen Systeme. Den ‚digitalen Straßen‘ sozialer Netzwerke wird eine ungeheure Verbreitungsmacht zugesprochen. Die Stadt ist dennoch mehr denn je der reale Ort des Geschehens, Bühne revolutionärer Umbrüche und Agitationsraum für gesellschaftspolitisches Handeln.
Was aber macht die Stadt zu unserem Kulturraum? Was sind die großen Themen und Herausforderungen für die Stadt der Gegenwart? Welche Voraussetzungen braucht es für eine zukunftsfähige Interaktion von Politik, Wirtschaft, Kultur und Gesellschaft? Und welche Anforderungen ergeben sich daraus für die gestalt- und raumgebenden Disziplinen? Amandus Sattler, Alexandra Weigand und das Architekturmuseum der TU München laden zum offenen Tischgespräch mit Vertretern aus Architektur, Kunst, Design und Politik.

The current events at Gezi Park in Istanbul raise the question of the political function of urban space. The Maidan in Kiev and Tahrir Square in Cairo formed the centre and starting point of the uprisings against the existing political systems. The ‘digital streets’ of social networks are considered to have enormous dissemination power. Nevertheless, the city is more than ever the real centre of events, the stage for revolutionary upheavals and a space for socio-political action.
But what defines the city as our cultural space? What are the major topics and challenges for the city of today? What conditions are needed for sustainable interaction between politics, business, culture and society? And what are the resulting requirements for the design and spatial disciplines? Amandus Sattler, Alexandra Weigand and the Architekturmuseum der TU München invite you to an open round table discussion with representatives from architecture, art, design and politics.
