Das WTD-Lab umfasst künstlerische Projekte, die während der zweijährigen Laufzeit des EU-Projekts What’s the deal? entstanden sind: Die Bandbreite der entwickelten Arbeiten beinhaltet konsumkritische Positionen ebenso wie alternative und spekulative Lösungsansätze. Dabei werden Fragen nach unserem gegenwärtigen Umgang mit Material, Ressourcen, Energie und Verteilung gestellt: Welche Folgen hat unsere Hyperkonsumkultur auf globaler, welche auf individueller Ebene? Wie können und wollen wir in Zukunft leben, wie uns kleiden? Welche Produkte entstehen aus einer partizipativen Mitwirkung zukünftiger Benutzer/innen? Welches Potenzial liegt in Recycling- und Do-it-Yourself-Strategien? Und wie können in diesem Zusammenhang bestehende Blickwinkel verändert und Neuausrichtungen vorgenommen werden?
EU–Festival WHAT’S THE DEAL? – MOVING URBAN CULTURES
Mit Talks, Workshops und Performances befragt der Designtag New.Design.Culture? im Rahmen des EU–Festivals WHAT’S THE DEAL? – MOVING URBAN CULTURES (11.–20. Juni 2015) den Stellenwert von Nachhaltigkeit in der gegenwärtigen europäischen Designlandschaft.
Begleitet wird das Abschlussfestival von den Ausstellungen WTD LAB und ART INTERVENTION, die Nachhaltigkeit auf neue Weise interpretieren und alternative und spekulative Lösungsansätze vorstellen.
The WTD Lab in the EU project What’s the deal? encompasses artistic projects that were created during the two-year period: The spectrum of works ranges from positions critical of consumption to alternative and speculative approaches. Questions are raised about our current dealing with materials, resources, energy and distribution: What are the consequences of our hyper-consumer culture on a global level, and what are the impacts on an individual level? How can and do we want to live and dress in the future? What products will emerge from the participatory involvement of future users? What potential lies in recycling and do-it-yourself strategies? And how can existing perspectives be transformed and new directions taken?

The Design Day New.Design.Culture? of the EU festival WHAT’S THE DEAL? – MOVING URBAN CULTURES (11-20 June 2015) examines the significance of sustainability in the current European design landscape.
The festival is accompanied by the exhibitions WTD LAB and ART INTERVENTION, which explore sustainability in new ways and present alternative and speculative solutions.
